Hot Net Payout Yield Stocks To Watch For 2015

On this day in economic and business history...

The golden spike sank into the earth at Promontory Summit in Utah on May 10, 1869. The Transcontinental Railroad was complete, joining the east and west of a sprawling 3,000-mile wide nation. Two railroad enterprises, the Union Pacific (NYSE: UNP  ) and the Central Pacific, had been built at a frenzied pace since shortly after President Abraham Lincoln's signature approved federal funds for construction in 1862. Both railroads were created to service this legislation, with Union Pacific building west from the Missouri River as the Central Pacificstruck out east from Sacramento.

The 1,900-mile line, built in only six years, was, as Howard Means writes in Money and Power: the History of Business:

... the Apollo Project of the 19th century -- one of those rare moments in history when discovery and technology seems to be colliding with destiny. National pride was at stake, and national aspiration, and something bigger still: Just as the manned landing on the moon would do, the railroad conquered an unknown world, planted a first tentative foot in an unknown space. Only those present could see the final spike of iron, clad in silver and gold, being driven into the last link of rail ... but the event was broadcast by telegraph and followed by Americans as avidly -- and greeted as enthusiastically -- as Neil Armstrong's lunar 'giant leap for mankind' almost exactly 100 years later, on July 20, 1969.

Since April 1, shares of Tesla are up more than 220%, while SolarCity shares are up a more modest 127%. SolarCity shares lost about $1.50 yesterday and are down another $3 a share this morning. The weak report and forecast from First Solar Inc. Advisors' Opinion:
  • [By Harry Domash, Publisher, DividendDetective and Winning Investing]

Harry Domash: Well, one that's really good for us has been Reaves Utility Income. It holds primarily US utility and telecom stocks and it's been a pretty good dividend raiser. The ticker is (UTG), paying about a 6.1% yield now and it's a good serial dividend increaser so it's a very good one.

If you're worried about rising interest rates then Invesco Dynamic Credit Opportunities, ticker (VTA), invests in below investment-grade floating rate bank loans. In other words, these are called senior loans.

They're bank loans that adjust their payouts based on prevailing interest rates, so if interest rates go up, these loans will pay higher dividends, so this is a good hedge if you are concerned about rising interest rates.

Another one that's really performed, and it's paying a 6.9% yield right now, Guggenheim Strategic Opportunities, ticker (GOF), that's actually Claymore Guggenheim, holds corporate and government backed, that it's mostly investment-grade and it's paying a 10.1% yield right now, which is pretty high. Those are three that I could recommend right now.

What the Catch With MyEcheck Inc? According to various disclosures, transactions of $500 and $2k have or will occur to mention MyEcheck Inc in various investment newsletters. The most recent news for MyEcheck Inc is not so recent as it dates from last April and was an announcement that the company would license its proprietary system to other operators for a share of their transaction revenue on the system with the CEO pointing out: n addition to our processing revenue, we will have licensing revenue that will exceed our processing revenue in a relatively short period of time." However, a quick look at MyEcheck Inc financials reveals revenues of $3k (most recent reported quarter), zero, zero and zero for the past four quarters along with net income of $387k (most recent reported quarter) and net losses of $8k, $35k and $14k. At the end of last June, MyEcheck Inc had no cash to cover $804k in current liabilities. So maybe investor will want to wait for evidence of licensing and processing revenue to materialize.
