Finally, someone agrees with Barron’s.
This weekend Bill Alpert reiterated his bearish case for Tesla Motors‘ (TSLA) shares, noting that at “a market value for Tesla of $18 billion, investors are looking far beyond its current $90,000 Model S and betting that founder Elon Musk will sell hundreds of thousands of lower-priced cars.”(The stock has gained 45% since our cover story slamming the shares on June 10).
Today, Lazard Capital Markets’ Aditya Satghare, who just assumed coverage Tesla, downgraded its shares to Neutral from Buy. Satghare writes:
We believe the current share price fully captures Tesla evolution into one of the most profitable luxury auto manufacturers, with sustained annual volumes and margins similar to Porsche’s. Meaningful upside from current levels will require domestic manufacturing in China and record sales of Gen 3 on launch. Execution risk is meaningfully higher in this scenario, and we expect limited clarity on this until the 2016/2017 timeframe. While the high-growth nature of the company or stock momentum could take shares higher, downside could be meaningful in the event of any potential execution issues.

The finance sector, as mentioned, can make money in many ways. The second-highest growth sector is expected to be consumer discretionary, with a 6.2% increase. When you look at earnings from luxury brands like Tiffany & Co. (TIF), and that the hotel sector continues to do very well, it suggests that those people who are in good financial shape are spending their money. Meanwhile, dollar players like Dollar Tree (DLTR) continue to perform very well, suggesting that folks with less money are spending it on cheaper items.

In this segment, Joel discusses why the shift away from OPEC domination could be a major opportunity for companies like Schlumberger (NYSE: SLB ) and Kinder Morgan (NYSE: KMI ) as well as whether OPEC is still the force it once was.
